Centura Education Foundation: Now Accepting Grant Applications
The Centura Educational Foundation has allotted $30,000 for the 2017-18 school year for school grants. Any teacher, student or coalition, or established parent organization associated with the school may apply during the application period of March 1 – 27.
Grant projects must positively benefit the students of Centura Public Schools. Short and long range benefits to students will be considered. Other key considerations will be demonstrating the need, the project’s goals and objectives, expected results, person responsible, and budget considerations. Projects that are the responsibility of the district will not be considered, unless additional help is needed to make the project a possibility. Matching funds might be a consideration for funding, but not necessary. These projects should be connected to the schools written mission and strategic plan.
Applications forms are available from the Centura Superintendent’s Office or you may request the grant application electronically by calling 308-485-4258. Completed applications are due by Monday, March 27, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. to Peg Lemburg in the Superintendent’s Office or email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Foundation also allotted up to $30,000 for 15 scholarships to the Class of 2017 seniors. This $2,000 scholarship is awarded over four semesters.
A total of $21,000 was also allotted by the Foundation to high school students taking on-line college classes during 2017-18 for 35 students at $300 each semester.
New as of last year is the Foundation award of $1,000 for up to three participants who qualify for the Youth Leadership of Tomorrow program, which is part of the Hall County Leadership Tomorrow program.
The foundation was established in 1986. Its mission is to provide funding for graduates from Centura High School to further their educations and to provide funding school functions and other financial needs. Donations to the Centura Education Foundation may be submitted through personal donations or as part of estate planning.
The Centura Dance Team will be presenting a Dance Revue on Sunday, March 12th at 7:00pm in the Centura High School Gym.
The Dance Revue will feature several dance performances from the year. Some of the encore pieces will be the Hip Hop routine with the Centura Boys; as well as the team’s State Runner-Up Jazz routine and State Championship High Kick routine. The members of the team are also very excited to present a brand new Dads and Daughters performance.
Along with the dance performances, several other Centura students will be featured. Grace McDonald, Molly Nitsch John Kortz and others will all provide some additional entertainment during the Revue.
After the Revue, attendees are invited to stay for dessert served by the Centura Dance Team.
Free-will donations will be accepted throughout the evening to help defray future costs the dance team incurs such as dance camps, uniforms and competition expenses.
