Centura Boy’s Basketball traveled to Central City to face the Bison. This is the first year that the Bison are members of the LouPlatte Conference. Poor shooting would plague the Centurions most of the game. Down 13-10 at the end of the first period, Centura would rally to knot the score at 25 all going into intermission. During the third period, the Bison would out score Centura 17-11 to take a 42-36 lead into the final stanza. In the fourth, Centura would outscore Central City 18-7 to rally for a 54-49 come from behind victory. Centura was down 8 with 5:50 to go in the fourth. During that 4th quarter rally Joe Carey and Ben Oman would score 8 and 7 respectively. Ben Oman hit four free-throws in the last thirty seconds to seal the win. Joe Carey had 16 rebounds and Payton Dowse would pull down 9. Noah Wooden led the Centurions in scoring with 15. Ben Oman had 13 while Joe Carey scored 11. Sophomore Ben Noakes hit three big 3’s off the bench to finish with 9. Ben Oman handed out 6 assists. With the win Centura moves to 2-0 in conference play and 3-0 on the season.

In JV action Centura defeated the young Bison 44-29. Leading scorers for the Centurions were led by Ben Noakes with 15 and Juan Perez had 12, while Spencer Meyer added 8. Tyler Myers played excellent defense for the 2-1 Centurions.
Friday night Centura traveled to Hastings to take on oe of the State’s top C-1 teams, the Patriots of Adam Central. The Centurions played at a high level losing 55-51 to the Patriots. Down 13-11 at the end of quarter one, Centura rallied in the second period to take a 26-23 in the halftime. In the third, Adam Central outscored Centura 19-13 to take a 42-39 lead into the final stanza. The Patriots would outscore Centura 13-12 to post a 55-51 win. Poor shooting both from the field and at the line would doom the Centurions. Ben Oman with six 3 pointers led Centura in scoring 20. Joey Carey had 14 while Dawson Caspersen finished with 13. Joe Carey again led Centura on the boards with 10 rebounds. Payton Dowse had 9 while Dawson Casperson and Ben Oman each pulled down 8 boards. Dawson Caspersen and Ben Oman each had 5 assists. 6’9″ Haggan Hilgendorf with 24 proved hard to handle. Centura falls to 3-1 heading to a LouPlatte Conference game in Ord on Saturday.

In JV action Centura fell to the much taller Patriots 55-21. Leading scorers for Centura were Eli Wooden with 9 and Ben Noakes with 8. The JV’s are currently 2-2.
On Saturday Centura’s C-team lost to the Wildcats of St Paul 61+55. the much shorter Centurios competed really well against the much taller Wildcats. Ben Noakes with 16 led the Centurions in scoring. Tate Trumler had 13 points, Eli Wooden had 11 points. The C-Team is currently 1-1.
