Centura Student Council focuses on Driver Distractions and Attends Convention

The Centura Student Council, in conjunction with the Teens in the Driver Seat Program, focused on Driver Distractions during the month of February. Media announcements were put on Centura Vision, new posters were placed through the school, and a video presentation was presented to all students in grades 7-12. Students received a Valentine with a Smarties candy to remind them to always “drive smart.” The content for the driver distraction presentation included texting while driving, having other passengers in the vehicle, eating while driving, and other items that may reduce the driver’s attention to the road. The program’s hope is to stimulate personal thought about many driving safety issues, especially texting while driving. In addition, seven members of the Centura Student Council attended the Dist. 3 Student Council Convention at Kearney High School in Kearney, NE on Feb.10, 2017teens in the drivers seat.
