The Centura FBLA chapter teamed up with the Centura FFA members on August 28thto have the annual Kick-Off party. This year the two organizations decided to mix things up and host a co-ed volleyball tournament for all existing members as well as new members of both organizations. This kick-off party is used as a form of recruitment and also as a way to bring together two different organizations. A pizza and brief meeting were held followed by the much-awaited volleyball tournament. The volleyball tournament brought new members to both organizations as well as a new bond between members. One member, Amber Baldwin, described the event as “one of the purest things.” By this, she meant that students from all walks of life gathered together just to play volleyball. After a fun filled night of playing volleyball the winning team, the “Fuzzy Tacos,” was crowned the champions. This team consisted of Seniors Juan Perez, Amber Baldwin, Elayna Holcomb, Nick Kortz, Spencer Meyer, Ben Noakes, Junior Katelyn Fanta, and 8thgrader Kyra Wooden.
Centura Winter Pep Rally

212 degrees is the temperature at which water boils. Using this as their metaphor, the Nebraska FFA put on a conference in Kearney to help FFA members try to realize that making an impact begins with a strong action, like what can happen when water boils. At the FFA’s 212 conference, the Centura FFA had 10 members attend the conference to try and improve their leadership skills. The event is open to members from all over the state and included over 200 students. Members are encouraged to try and realize their potential as the meet new people and develop their interpersonal skills. The ten members from Centura are very active and attended to learn and bring back those skills to their chapter.

The Centura Student Council is hosting Toys for Tots again this year. Students and staff are encouraged to bring an unwrapped, new toy for the collection box through Dec. 15th.

Toys for Tots Program
The Centura staff is supporting the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. This worthy program collects new, unused toys for underprivileged children. The objectives of Toys for Tots are to help less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources – our children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future. In return for bringing a new toy, the Centura staff will enjoy wearing jeans on Thursday, December 14th.
Mark your calendars for January 24th! Centura 4th, 5th, and 6th graders will be performing their “Bounce to the Beat” during the half time of both boys and girls varsity games. Your student will be bringing home more details as we get closer to the date. The Centura FFA BBQ is also taking place that evening, so there will be lots of fun events happening. Come out and support the Centura community!
