CCV HOME game schedule has been changed!

The CCV Softball HOME game schedule locations have been adjusted for the Fall.

  • Thursday, August 16 vs Minden – Game will be played in CAIRO
  • Tuesday, August 28 vs Hastings St. Cecilia – Game will be played in CAIRO
  • Thursday, August 30 CCV Triangular – Game will be played in NORTH LOUP
  • Thursday, September 6 vs ONeill – Game will be played in NORTH LOUP

Please adjust your calendars accordingly!

 

Elementary Volleyball camp coming in August!

New this year, in an attempt to have players get their volleyball skills training in closer to school, and their Volleyball seasons, Centura coaches and players will be hosting a two-day fundamental camp for girls entering grades 4th-8th grade. The focus will be fundamental skills for Volleyball leading up to the approaching season. Skills will include passing, setting, hitting, serving, defensive and offensive skills.

  • Cost: $30/camper Grades 4-8 includes a camp T-shirt and fun snack
    • Camp Time 9-noon
  • Each girl should have court shoes, t-shirt, and shorts. Kneepads are optional, but highly encouraged.

Complete and sign the camp application sheet. Sign up’s will be due by July 30th, to Alison Feeney. Make checks payable to Centura Volleyball.

After a little wait, here are the Centura medalists from the District C-7 track meet.  Both the Boy’s and Girl’s teams placed 8th as teams and there are four athletes headed to the state track meet.

Centura Athletes Compete in LouPlatte Conference Track Meet

Coach Geoff Cyboron reported that the Centurion track team had a challenging day as we faced the Lou-Platte Conference. The team saw a few personal bests and one new school record. The Centurions were able to get most of the field events finished before taking a 30-minute rain and hail delay. The farmers need the moisture,  so that was okay. Both boys and girls teams placed 4th by a very narrow margin. Coach reported, “I am very proud of every effort today.”

Centura Track Athletes Compete in CNTI at GINW

On Monday, April 23, Centura track coaches took 17 student athletes to the CNTC meet hosted by GINW. This meet is the best of the best in the area. The weather was beautiful and Coach Cyboron reported, “the athelete’s marks are getting better as they enter the most competitive part of the season.”

The following are the results of Centura’s athletes:

In the girls 1600m run, Caitlin State improved her time to 5:44.02 earning her 7th place.

In the girls 4x800m relay, (Garcia, Nitsch, Perez, States) the team improved their time by over 20 seconds 10:48.49 earning them 9th place.

In the girls pole vault, Brooklyn Hostetler jumped 10-4 tying her personal best and earning 4th place and Rylee Kosmicki jumped 9-10 inches tying her personal best as well earning 7th place.

In the girls triple jump Sam Simdorn jumped 14-2.5 placing 8th.

In the boys 4x100m relay, (Simmons, Hruby, E. Wooden, Caspersen) the team improved their time to 45.19 earning them a very close 5th place finish.

In the boys 4x800m relay, (Ruhl, Arndt, Dowse, Perez) the team improve their time to 9:00.45 earning them the 10th place finish.

In the boys pole vault, Willy Packer improved this year’s personal best to 13-7 earning him the 2nd place medal.
Noah Bruggeman jumped 13-7 earning him the 3rd place medal on misses.

In the boys 400m dash, Dawson Caspersen ran 55.46 placing 7th.

The next track invitational is hosted at Centura on Thursday,  April 16th.  Come cheer us on.

Centura Track Athletes Qualify to Compete in the Central Nebraska Track and Field Championship Meet

The following Centura athletes are invited to the Grand Island Independent Central Nebraska Track and Field Championship Meet on Monday, April 23rd.

Also, on Tuesday the 9/10th grade team goes to Broken Bow and Thursday Centura hosts the Centura High Track Invitational.  It will be a busy week lots of great track to come out and support.

The Wood River Invitational was rescheduled for Monday and it was a beautiful day to compete. The team  had some really good performances as the Centura boy’s claimed the runner-up plaque and the girl’s team earned 3rd place. The following are the Medalists:

Centura Wrestlers Selected for All-LouPlatte Conference Wrestling

The All-LouPlatte Conference Wrestlers were selected at the March 14, LPC meeting held at Riverside Golf Club.  Wrestlers are chosen from their placings at the LPC wrestling tournament which was held on January 20th in St. Paul.
