Hall County Spelling Bee

On Tuesday, February 14th, four Centura students represented Centura Public Schools at the Hall County Spelling Bee held in Wood River.  They are from left to right:  Ben Holcomb (5th grade); Ryan Schweitzer (6th grade); Riley Nielsen (7th grade); Natalie Burdett (8th grade).  All the students did well in the written rounds of the Spelling Bee but only Natalie advanced to the oral spelling round.  She was named the Hall County Spelling Bee Runner-up!  Congratulations, Natalie!

Fun, Fair, Faithful and Firm Staff member of the week

Coach Dan Carlson has been nominated as Centura’s fun, fair, firm and faithful staff member of the week. In the classroom he continually stretches himself to reach each student. An example of this is his use of technology, specifically the Schoology program. As a coach, he encourages each athlete to get better. One student commented that Live Wrestling is difficult, but he knows coach continues to use this drill in practice to make him a stronger wrestler. Mr. Carlson promotes a positive learning environment in and out of the classroom at Centura.

Soup Supper at Centura

The Annual Sophomore Soup Supper is being held during the home basketball games this Saturday from 4:30 to 8:00 (or we run out of soup).  Centura Sophomores are serving chicken noodle soup, chili and a homemade dessert for only $5 (kids under 5 eat free).  Come out, cheer on the basketball teams and have some yummy soup!
