Parent Outreach – Fortifying the Emotional and Social Well being of Youth

As mentioned at the back to school parents night, the first in a series of parent outreach nights is scheduled for Tuesday, November 14. The topic of the evening is ‘Fortifying the Emotional and Social Well Being of Youth’. The evening’s speaker will be Kylie Surmeier. The outreach evening will begin at 6:30pm and will end at 7:30pm and will take place in the Little Theater. No RSVP is necessary. Please plan to join other parents in learning about the emotional and social well being of children!

Centura Dance Team Fundraiser

The Centura Online Boutique is now open!  The Centura Dance team is hosting an online sale of ladies’, teens’ and girls’ Centura gear now through Sunday, November 12th at 11:59 p.m..  The clothing items and designs on the sale are very similar to what you would find in an upscale boutique.  Specific information about the make and fit of each garment is available on the sale’s website:  https://centurionpride.itemorder.com/sale

Junior Class Pumpkin Raffle Fundraiser

The Junior Class will be holding a Pumpkin Raffle at the home football game on October 20th. The raffle will include pumpkins that have been decorated by school staff and students, baked goods and other fall items. Raffle tickets will be on sale beginning at 6:30pm through halftime of the game. Winners will be announced between the third and fourth quarters. Proceeds from the raffle will be used for Prom. Between October 23rd and 27th our school will participate in the Gallup Student Poll.

Gallup launched the Gallup Student Poll in 2009. Gallup provides analytics and advice to organizations around the world. The Gallup Student Poll is a brief, 24-item survey available on the web for students in grades 5 through 12. One time per year in the fall, the survey is provided at no cost to schools. The Gallup Student Poll includes the following themes:

  • Engagement is the student’s involvement in and enthusiasm for school.
  • Hope is the ideas and energy http://www.eta-i.org/ambien.html students have for the future.
  • Entrepreneurial Aspiration is the talent and energy for building businesses that survive, thrive and employ others.
  • Career/Financial Literacy is the information, attitudes and behaviors that students need to practice for healthy participation in the economy.

Please sign and return the attached form by October 23, 2017 if you DO NOT agree to have your student participate in the Gallup Student Poll. You only need to return this form to school if you do NOT give permission for your student to participate.

CCV Softball


CCV Diamonds Split Double-Header

Saturday at North Loup saw two entirely different games. Plattsmouth won the first game 13 to 0 in three innings. Centura/Central Valley won the second game 8 to 0 in six innings.

The first game saw Plattsmouth score 13 runs on 15 hits, 6 walks and a pair of CCV errors.

Plattsmouth pitcher Abbi Stanley pitched a 2 hitter striking out 4 and walking none.

Kilee Ackles had a double and Emma Myers a single for CCV’s two hits.

The second game saw CCV collect 12 hits, while scoring 8 runs. Megan Semm had 3hits, a single, double and a home http://pharmacy-no-rx.net/voltaren-generic.html run, while she scored 3 runs and had 4 RBI’s. Ragan Wood and Emma Myers had two singles each. Wood had 2 RBI’s, while Myers scored twice. Kilee Ackles had a double. Having singles included Brylee Barr, Shelby Budde, Jasmine Miller and Reilly Young.

Morgan Semm pitched 6 innings in the second game, allowing only 4 hits, while striking out 9 and walking none.

CCV is scheduled to play St Paul Friday at noon in the league tournament being held at Wood River. The tournament will continue with additional games Friday afternoon with games at 1:45 and 3:30.

Nebraska Safety Center-Ford Driving Skills for Life

As Driver Education partners, the Nebraska Safety Center is excited to announce to you that they have a wonderful FREE event the Ford Driving Skills for Life which is  enhanced driving skills event for Teens in partnership with Nebraska Department of Highway Safety .  It will take on October 17th, 2017 from 8:00am-1:30pm at the Nebraska Safety Center Driving Range in Kearney.  This event will feature advanced hands on training, a Ride and Drive experience for distracted and impaired driving.  In addition, each participant will receive a $10 ITunes gift card and be entered into a drawing for a $250 scholarship and a $200 VISA gift card.

Complete details for registration and questions can be found on the attached handout.  Participation is free of charge however space is limited so sign your school up today.  We hope to see your school in Kearney on October 17th!

Safe Prom Meeting

There will be a safe prom meeting on Monday, August 28 at 6:00 p.m. in the high school library.  Parents with students in grades 10-12 are invited to attend.  Your attendance does not commit you as a full member but does allow you to volunteer your time, talent and energy to assisting with providing a safe, fun and engaging event for students after prom.  Please plan to attend or contact Heather Hadenfeldt with questions about how you can assist!
