A Big Year for Centura’s Future Business Leaders of America


Centura FBLA has excelled in many areas this school year. With a membership of 75 members, the chapter was recognized at the FBLA State Convention for being the 2nd largest chapter in Class C. The annual convention was held April 6-8, 2017, where 29 Centurions traveled to Omaha. Chapter Adviser, Mrs. Loeffelholz stated, “Not only are we big in numbers, but we have proven to be big in active members as well.”

Because of the great leaders and active members Centura has, they received the following chapter and individual leadership awards at the FBLA State Conference: March of Dimes, StepUp2Tech, Feed Nebraska, iGive, Connect 2 Business, Seven Up, Go Green, Foundation, March of Dimes Triangle, Sweepstakes, and Gold Seal Member. Tanner Rosenquist and Kaleb Schuster each received the Quality Member Awards for their chapter leadership. Grace McDonald was awarded the Outstanding Local Reporter Award.

Centura students also competed exceptionally well academically, by scoring in the top 4% in the following FBLA State events. Honorable Mentions were awarded to: Juan Perez, Introduction to Financial Math; Ben Noakes, Middle Level Keyboarding Applications; Madison Hickok, Word Processing;  and Navi Nielsen, Introduction to Business. Placing at FBLA State were:

Macy Baldwin and Rachel Baustert, 8th Place Partnership with Business Project; Juan Perez, 7th Place, Middle Level Business Communication; Macy Baldwin, 6th Place, Word Processing; Grace McDonald, Payton Dowse, and Dawson Caspersen, 4th Place, Graphic Design; Macy Baldwin, 3rd Place and National Qualifier, Introduction to Financial Math; Elayna Holcomb, 2nd Place, Middle Level Keyboarding Applications; Payton Dowse and Dawson Caspersen, 2nd Place and National Qualifiers, Publication Design; Grace McDonald, 1st Place and National Qualifier, Public Speaking 1.

Baldwin, Dowse, Caspersen, and McDonald will be competing at the national level, this summer in Anaheim, California.
