Centura Wrestlers Ready Themselves for District Wrestling By Competing in a Tough GICC Tournament

This past weekend the Centura wrestling team competed in a very tough Grand Island Central Catholic wrestling tournament. This is one of our toughest meets of the year; the Centura wrestlers have a lot of quality opponents that come to Grand Island. Overall Coach Carlson stated, “I was pleased with our performance considering it was such a tough tournament. Even though Judson Bonsak and Casey Kuszak did not place they really set the tone for this week trying to get to state. They went from the beginning whistle to the last whistle and gave it their all. It’s performances like that we can build on and give ourselves a shot to go to state!”

Wrestler of the week goes to Kile Bentley. Kile took a tough loss in the semi-finals but fought his way back and won a tough match to finish third in the tournament.

3rd Place – Kile Bentley
2nd Place – Austin Simmons

The next two weeks of wrestling of the most exciting weeks in the sport, it’s one of the reasons Coach Carlson love the sport so much. Any one can go to state it does not matter what your record is all that matters is you placed in the top four in our district meet.  I’m looking forward to it!
