Centura Girls Basketball Goes 2-1 in LouPlatte Conference Play and Win Consolation Game

The Centura Girls Basketball Team wins 2 games and loses 1 for a third place finish in the LouPlatte Conference Basketball Tournament

Centura Girls vs. Wood River (First round of Conference)

Centura girls faced the Wood River Eagles for the first round of the conference game.  This was the second match-up of the two teams which found Wood River winning the first game 39-42.  The Centura girls came out ready to play Wood River for a second time this season and got the win by a 41-38 margin.  Coach Thober reported, “This was a nice win for us.  Wood River is a quality basketball team.  Centura finally hit a few outside shots to give the girls the boost they needed to secure the win!”

Centura Girls vs. Ord (Semi Finals of Conference)

In the semi-final round of the LPC basketball conference, Centura found themselves facing an unbeaten Ord team.  The Chants had beaten Centura early in the season, 40-53 ,in the game played at Ord.  Centura had high hopes to give the Chants their first loss of the season on Centura’s home court.  However, Ord came out strong and showed determination to make it to the conference finals.  Coach Thober said, “The Centura girls had some good looks on offense early in the game, but they were unable to capitalize.  The game got away from us a little in the second quarter and Centura was not able to recover.  Ord is a very good team and we didn’t have the horses to stay with them in this game.”  With the loss, Centura would play in the Consolation round of the tournament.

Centura Girls vs. Doniphan (Consolation round of conference)

Centura had lost to Doniphan/Trumbull early in January 34-42 in a game played on the Cardinal’s home floor.  The girls were able to avenge that loss in the consolation round of the LouPlatte Conference Tournament on the Centurion’s own court.  Coach Thober joyfully reported, “This was another good win for Centura. In the third quarter Centura hit a few threes to add to Krolikowski’s 12 points to outscore D/T 20 to six. Emily ended up with 26 points for the game making her career total over the 1000 point mark. She is a great competitor and is one of the best all-around players I have ever coached!”  With the 53-43 win, Centura is 11-8 on the season heading into the final three regular season games.
