Centura Boys’ Basketball Head Into LPC Tourney at 9-6
Centura Vs. Fullerton
Last Thursday, Centura traveled to Fullerton to play the very athletic Warriors. Fullerton would lead the Centurions 20-12 at the end of the first period. By halftime, Fullerton had increased their lead to 41-26. In the second half, Centura would outscore the Warriors 34-25. But poor shooting from both beyond the arc and at the free-throw line, along with questionable officiating, doomed the Centurions. Three minutes into the contest, Dawson Caspersen was saddled with three fouls. Joe Carey, Noah Wooden, and Eli Wooden all would foul out of the contest. Fullerton shot the ball better from the field, 46% to 36% and from the charity stripes 52% to 45%. Joey Carey, Noah Wooden, and Ben Oman were all in double figures with 17, 16, and 10 respectively. Joe Carey with 10, Dawson Caspersen with nine, and Ben Oman with seven would lead the Centurions on the Boards. With the 66-60 victory, Fullerton moved to 11-4 on the season. Centura dropped to 8-6.
In JV action, Centura dropped a hard fought decision to the young Warriors 38-33. Leading scores for Centura were Eli Wooden with and Ben Noakes had 8. The young Centurions are currently 6-6 on the year.

Centura Vs. Ravenna
Last Friday, the arch-rival Ravenna Blue Jays, sporting a 13-3 record invaded the Centurions at home. At the end of the first period Ravenna was holding a four point lead 23-19. Neither team scored much in the second quarter as both teams tightened up their defenses. At the intermission, Ravenna was still in front 28-25. In the second half Centura would outscore the Blue Jays 37-25 to secure the victory 62-53. Dawson Caspersen led Centura scorers with 24, and 12 of those would come from the charity stripe. Dawson also had eight rebounds and five assists. Joe Carey and Ben Oman were also in double figures with 12 and 11 respectively. Joe was Centura’s leading rebounder with nine, while Ben led the squad with eight assists. Noah Wooden scored nine to go along with his four assists. With the win, Centura moves to 9-6, while Ravenna falls to 13-4. The LouPlatte Conference Tournament is up next for the Centurions.
In JV action, Centura moves to 7-6 on the year with an exciting come from behind win over the young Blue Jays. Ben Noakes with 19 and Eli Wooden with 13 led the Centurions in scoring.
