Centura’s Biggest Fan, Verne Hickok, Surprised with a Birthday Party Tailgate

Verne Hickok expresses his gratitude for everyone who helped make his 85th birthday party on September 1st so amazing!

Verne shared that his family worked so hard to throw the surprise tailgate, complete with hot dogs, chips, and even homemade cupcakes.  “Thank you to Donn, Vikki, Emily, Cody, Jacob, Paige, and Maddy.  What makes it even more special was that my son David from Twin Falls, Idaho, and my friends Loni and Kerry Fox from Lincoln were able to make the trip to celebrate with me!”

Verne was greeted by the volleyball team, who, in addition to a spirited rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’, presented him with a ‘Verne’s Vintage Volleyball, which was autographed by the girls.

Verne extends his gratitude and thanks to the volleyball team and congratulates them on an awesome season.  He also thanks the cheer team for making him a handmade card.  Also,  the football team for singing him happy birthday and invited him to break down the huddle.

The highlight of the night was when the band director, Logan Gregory, directed the band members to serenade him with their version of ‘Happy Birthday’.  Verne exclaimed that, “It was not a bad way to start off my 85th birthday!”

Verne is grateful to the Centura Community for the wonderful show of support!  He was humbled and is ready to cheer on the Centura students in all the upcoming activities.  Finally he said, “I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy, and safe 2018.
