Centura and South Central Unified in a Team Race for Being Named Southern Valley Wrestling Invite Champions

Centura wrestlers wrestled at the Southern Valley invite on Friday.   Centura was in second place for most of the day and then in the fifth round took over the lead spot.  However,  just before going into finals they were overtaken once again by South Central Unified.  It turned out to be a pretty exciting team race between South Central Unified and Centura.

Centura had seven medalists which included Andrew Merritt; fourth Place, Nate Ruhl; second Place, Dustin Charron; second Place, and Kile Bentley; fourth Place.  Centura was able to crown three tournament champions: Casey Kusack, Jack Sokol, and Austin Simmons.

Overall Coach Carlson was pleased with the performance of the Centurions.  He reported, “We still have a lot of work to do to get to where we need to be in February. I’m seeing some good progression in some of our younger wrestlers!”

This weeks Wrestler of the week goes to Casey Kusack. Not only did Casey win the tournament at 106 pounds he had a little bit of a struggle with his weight this week, however he was mentally tough enough to get through it.

This week  Centura hosts a duals Thursday at 5 o’clock. Then Friday morning they head off to Raytown Missouri for the Raytown South 2-day holiday invitational.
