Centura Girl’s Basketball to Mix Upperclassmen with Newcomers in Hopes of Improving

The Centura girl’s basketball team is looking for more wins on the hardwood this winter after posting a 7-17 season a year ago.  Third-year head coach, Jeff Thober has confidence his team may have the right pieces to put more victories in the win-column this season.  Coach Thober reported, “We will be a much improved-team from last season.  We have a nice mix of upperclassmen and youngsters that will all help contribute to our success.”  Coach Thober’s high school basketball coaching record is 240 wins and 109 losses in fourteen years.

Four starters return, led by senior Emily Krolikowski, who is expected to be one of the top players in the LouPlatte Conference after averaging 15.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per outing a year ago.  Juniors Sam Simdorn, Kaleigh Johnson, and Brooklyn Hostetler are expected to join her in the lineup.

Freshman Morgan Semm is expected to see action in the Centurions’ back court as well.  In conference action, Thober indicated that Ord and Ravenna look to be the top two teams.  Centura opens the season hosting Sandy Creek on December 1.

Coach Thober summed up the anticipation by stating, “We have the ingredients it takes to be a very good team!”
